Hi, Lancers! My name is Yara Abouzeeni, I’m currently in my third year pursuing an Honours Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Developmental Studies, alongside a Bachelor of Science in Economics and I’m beyond excited to be serving as your UWSA Vice President Student Life this year!

Over the past few years, I’ve had the opportunity to be heavily involved across campus through student leadership, event planning, advocacy, and building spaces that bring students together. From running around during major campus events to organizing initiatives through clubs and student groups, student life has always been something I’ve been deeply passionate about, and I’m excited to now bring that passion into this role.

This year, my goal is to make sure student life genuinely reflects what students want to see on campus. That means listening closely to your ideas, creating events and initiatives that students are actually excited about, and making sure every student feels represented and included in the campus experience. Whether it’s improving traditions, introducing new programming, or creating more opportunities for connection, I want students to feel like they had a real role in shaping their university experience.

Outside of the UWSA, you’ll probably find me somewhere around campus, at a student event, or spending time with friends between meetings and classes. My door is always open, and if you ever want to share ideas, concerns, or just talk, please do not hesitate to reach out. I’m so excited for everything we’re going to accomplish together this year!
