The University of Windsor Students’ Alliance (UWSA) is the full-time undergraduate student union at the University of Windsor.

The University of Windsor Students’ Alliance (UWSA) is the incorporated non-profit student union representing over 10,500 full-time undergraduate students at the University of Windsor.

The UWSA was incorporated in May 1970 and has served as the representative union for undergraduate students for over 50 years, advocating for student interests and supporting the student community.

As an independent student organization, the UWSA operates as a separate corporation and is not part of the University of Windsor administration. While the UWSA works closely with the University and participates in its governance structures, its primary responsibility is to represent and serve the interests of undergraduate students.

The organization is governed by an elected Board of Directors and elected executive officers, supported by a professional staff team responsible for administering the UWSA’s programs, services, and daily operations.

The UWSA offices are located on the second floor of the CAW Student Centre (room 209) at the University of Windsor.

Mission Statement

The University of Windsor Students’ Alliance is committed to representing and supporting full-time undergraduate students at the University of Windsor. The UWSA works to advance and protect student interests, ensure student voices are meaningfully included in institutional decision-making, and strengthen the overall student experience through advocacy, representation, and services.

Our Pillars

The work of the UWSA is guided by three interconnected pillars: Advocacy, Service, and Representation. These pillars operate together to ensure that the needs, concerns, and priorities of students direct the work of the organization. Through ongoing engagement with students, the UWSA identifies issues affecting the student community, represents those concerns within decision-making spaces, and develops services and initiatives that respond to the needs of undergraduate students.

  • Advocacy is central to the mandate of the UWSA. The organization works to safeguard the rights, well-being, and interests of undergraduate students by engaging with University leadership, government representatives, and other partners whose decisions affect students.

This includes supporting students in navigating academic/non-academic concerns, raising issues related to University policies, bylaws and student supports, and advocating on broader matters such as affordability, accessibility, and the quality of post-secondary education.

  • The UWSA administers a range of programs and services designed to support students throughout their university experience and enhance student life on campus.

These include initiatives such as the Health and Dental Plan, the Universal Bus Pass, scholarships and student funding opportunities, academic support initiatives, service centres, campus programming, and the coordination and support of student groups and organizations.

Through these services, the UWSA works to reduce barriers to student success, support student well-being, and foster a strong and engaged campus community.

  • The UWSA represents undergraduate students within the governance structures of the University of Windsor and across numerous committees, boards, and advisory bodies where institutional decisions are considered.

Through elected student representatives serving in these roles, the UWSA ensures that undergraduate student perspectives are present in discussions concerning academic policy, campus planning, student life, and institutional governance. This representation helps ensure that decisions affecting students reflect the needs and priorities of the broader undergraduate student community.
