I would bring a perspective to student governance that is grounded in structure, accountability, and results. I believe student representation should not exist only as a symbolic presence, but as a functional and informed process that translates student concerns into real institutional action. My approach is shaped by the belief that advocacy must be organized, evidence-based, and persistent in order to create meaningful change. Advocacy should lead to clear proposals, coordinated engagement with decision-makers, and consistent follow-through so student voices are not only heard, but acted upon.My academic/professional background in Political Science and Public Relations has shaped how I understand institutions and governance. Through my experience, I have developed an understanding of how policies are created, how decisions move through formal structures, and how effective advocacy requires preparation, research, and credibility. My PR training has strengthened my ability to communicate clearly, represent diverse perspectives, and ensure that student concerns are presented in a professional manner. These experiences have taught me that advocacy is most effective when it is strategic and informed.

The most important issues facing students today are affordability, access to academic/financial support, and the lack of clear, effective pathways for student advocacy. Many students are balancing tuition, housing, and living costs while also trying to succeed academically. Financial stress affects students’ ability to focus, and fully participate in university life. Simultaneously, students often face challenges accessing financial aid, navigating OSAP, finding employment opportunities, and understanding where to go when they encounter hardship. These challenges are systemic, and require persistent advocacy to address.
Rising living costs and financial instability create barriers to education, particularly for low-income, first-generation, and marginalized students. I would advocate by working with university leadership, student services, and governance bodies to identify affordability barriers and push for reforms that improve access to financial aid, and institutional support. Additionally, I would build stronger relationships externally with local organizations, employers, and government representatives to expand job opportunities and reduce financial pressure on students.

In this role, my approach would be based on clear communication, consistent student engagement, and responsible representation. Students deserve to understand not only what decisions are being made, but also how and why those decisions affect them. My responsibility would be to ensure that students are informed, heard, and represented with integrity.
To ensure transparency, I would maintain consistent and open communication with students. This includes providing regular updates on advocacy efforts, ongoing discussions with university leadership, and any decisions that directly impact students. I would communicate through multiple channels, including public updates, student forums, and accessible office hours. Transparency also means explaining the process behind advocacy; what concerns have been raised, what actions are being taken, and what outcomes students can expect. Even when change takes time, students deserve honest and timely updates.
My goal would be to create a student governance approach that is transparent and trustworthy. Students should feel confident that their concerns are taken seriously, that decisions are made fairly, and that their representative is working consistently in their best interests.

Student governance should play a central and active role in shaping the student experience at the University of Windsor. It should serve as a formal bridge between students and the institution. Student governance exists to protect student interests, improve academic and support systems, and ensure that the university remains responsive to the needs of the people it serves. When student governance is effective, it improves institutional policies, and creates a more accessible and supportive environment for all students.
Student leaders must listen carefully to the concerns of their peers, understand how the university operates, and advocate for improvements in a professional and informed way. Leadership requires transparency, integrity, and consistency. Students should be able to trust that their representatives are acting in their best interests and are committed to improving the conditions that affect their academic success and overall well-being. I am motivated to run because I believe student governance can be a powerful tool for improving the student experience when it is approached with purpose.
