University of Windsor Residence Director

Sharon Kabatesi

  • I would bring a student-focused and approachable perspective to student governance as a Resident Representative for the University of Windsor Students’ Alliance. Through my experiences living in residence and engaging with fellow students, I understand the importance of community, communication, and addressing everyday student concerns. I am committed to listening to residents’ needs, advocating for their well-being, and ensuring their voices are represented in decisions that affect their campus experience.

  • The most important issues I care about are residence living conditions, including reliable Wi-Fi, building maintenance, and food quality in Laurier Hall and Cartier Hall. Many residents face ongoing concerns such as internet outages, hot water issues, and problems with dining services, including food safety, quality, and limited options for students with dietary restrictions. As a Resident Representative for the University of Windsor Students’ Alliance, I would advocate for improvements by gathering regular feedback from residents, raising concerns directly with residence and university leadership, and pushing for stronger accountability, better maintenance response times, improved food standards, and more inclusive meal options to ensure students have a safe, comfortable, and supportive living environment.

  • As a Resident Representative, I would approach accountability, transparency, and fair decision-making by maintaining open and consistent communication with residents, sharing updates on issues, decisions, and progress through accessible channels. I would actively seek student input through conversations, feedback, and check-ins to ensure concerns are accurately represented. I am committed to advocating ethically and fairly by considering the diverse needs of residents, being honest about challenges and limitations, and prioritizing decisions that are in the best interests of students while working collaboratively with the University of Windsor Students’ Alliance.

  • I believe student governance should play an active role in shaping the student experience by ensuring student voices are heard, concerns are addressed, and positive changes are made on campus. Effective student leadership means being approachable, listening to students’ needs, and advocating for solutions that improve academic, social, and living experiences. I am motivated to run because I want to help create a supportive and inclusive environment where students feel represented and valued, especially in residence. As part of the University of Windsor Students’ Alliance, I hope to contribute by advocating for student well-being, strengthening communication between students and leadership, and helping improve the overall campus experience for the broader student community.
