Faculty of Business Representative

Emma Abah

  • Students should feel represented by me because of my ongoing experience in leadership and advocacy. I am someone that likes putting myself in leadership positions because I have the confidence and social skills to support others. My involvement in various clubs at the University of Windsor has allowed me to make so many connections. Through these connections, I have noted the importance of community and how leadership shapes strong communities.

University of Windsor has shown me the value of student advocacy, and I am ready to carry its responsibility as a Faculty of Business representative. I am grounded, driven, and always seeking more opportunities for growth in my communities, as well as personal growth.

  • Right now, I think we are all aware of the issues regarding Doug Ford's changes regarding student governance and OSAP. Cutting post-secondary student grants and increasing loans will hinder students' ability to study comfortably. With less support from the government, students lack a sense of stability in their post-secondary education years. I want to be part of a student governance that raises concerns and pushes for change within the UWSA and the University. I also want to advocate for a campus life where students feel heard and, most importantly, supported.

  • Openness and honesty will be my two main approaches to accountability, transparency, and fair decision-making. I believe these are genuine approaches to effective communication, which will be a key part of my role as a bridge between Business students and the student governance in the UWSA. I can guarantee that my social media presence will be a reliable tool in seeking input or feedback from the students I represent. With my social media, I can garner diverse student perspectives to ensure fair, ethical decisions that are in students' best interests.

  • My involvement in Odette Commerce Society has shown me what effective student leadership should look like. From the planning behind the scenes to the promotion on our Instagram page, Odette Commerce Society ensures effective communication throughout each process. This clearly shows how student governance plays an important role in shaping student experience at the University of Windsor. I want to extend my involvement and be part of that work in the UWSA because I understand its importance. I believe I, Emma Abah, can represent the Faculty of Business and contribute to its growth.
